Earlier JEE Main used to be organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). But from 2019, it is o rganised by the NTA. JEE Main 2020 will be held as an online exam, which until 2019 was held through both online and offline media. What Mantra Do You Use As Your Guiding Voice - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career I recently spoke with someone who inspired me with his mantra for how he lives his life. He said this: The World was created for me and at the same time I am responsible for the world. These two ideas at first glance seem to conflict but a closer look shows that they hold the foundation for being effective and purposeful in life. The first statement; The world was created for me suggests that a person sees himself as important and valuable, but left on its own could lead to an arrogant, narcissistic path. Combining the first statement however with the second suggests that the individual has healthy self-esteem and therefore views his role in life as significant and he is here to make a positive difference in society. The order of these two statements also may have significance; First a person must have good self-esteem and see the world as created for him shows a clear sense that a person believes I belong in this world and am deserving of itâs benefits. The second statement tempers the first and saysâ¦OK now do something about it not just for yourself but for humanity. Your personal brand will be shaped by what you do with what you know. A person who adopts this mantra, The World was created for me and at the same time I am responsible for the world, will be more likely to acquire a sense of ownership for all his activities and pursuits and would be using his talents for the greater good. He would have the mindset What problem can I help fix? Wheres the gap that I can apply my skills to fill the void? Whats lacking here and how can I use my skills to correct a problem? Productivity would inevitably improve both for individuals and for companies. Asserting yourself this way could help you stand out from the crowd. When doing this be careful not to get caught up with the outcome. Whatever mantra you choose, consider that it should help you move in a positive direction. Set goals for yourself but try to focus more on your effort as the outcome is outside of your control. Here are a few strategies to improve yourself and your success that rely on your initiative: Every week identify 3 people in your firm you can help 1. Assist these people in completing a task they need help with and that requires your unique skills. 2. Participate in a LinkedIn discussion at least once per week offering your expertise. 3. Volunteer in an organization where you can make a positive difference by offering them your service. 4. Reach out to connect with as many people as possible in this organization. Offer your help as a volunteer. 5. Share your expertise freely with a blog you create on a topic that people need help with. The effort you put into helping others both in your firm, thru LinkedIn and in a professional organization as a volunteer will help you build your network, enhance your name recognition and your reputation in your field. Your giving out more than you take in will advance your personal brand and allow you to build a platform to ask the people you helped for a strong recommendation. A wise person said, everything you do you do for yourself. Meaning, helping others isnt purely altruistic. Its actually a reasonable and effective means for garnering respect, approval and even love from others. You have the world-that-was-created-for-you attitude combined with having a sense of responsibility for others, is the secret to having balance, serenity and the seeds for growth in your career. Revamp Your To-Do List With a Process-Based Approach âI have a to-do list as long as my arm! How am I ever going to accomplish everything on this list?â Does this sound familiar? If you are like most people, probably. These days, it seems that everyone is busier than ever, rushing around every day trying to accomplish everything on their to-do lists, and most likely exhausting and frustrating themselves in the process. In fact, thereâs a large subset of people who list simple tasks (like âbrush teethâ) on their planners, or write down things that theyâve already accomplished just to get the pleasure of crossing something off the list. It doesnât have to be this way. Task or to-do lists are meant to be a tool to keep you on track and organized and not overwhelming dictators that cause stress. However, many people make the same mistakes when compiling their lists, such as: Listing too many tasks. Not considering timing. Not prioritizing tasks. Not determining a purpose. The result? Your daily task list is a jumbled mess of tasks for both home and work or school, and you most likely arenât making progress toward your personal and professional goals. By revamping your to-do list, though, you can effectively revamp your life. When you prioritize your time based on working toward a specific purpose, you will find that youâre much less stressed, more focused, and best of all, have a better chance of reaching your goals. And the best way to retool your list is via a process-based approach. What Is a Process-Based Approach? In business, process analysis is a key component of change management. Companies rely upon business process analysts to evaluate the processes required for completing a specific task, identify areas for improvement or change, and recommend alternatives to better meet the organizationâs stated goals. For example, a company that has been receiving poor customer feedback regarding shipment might use the process analysis approach to evaluate every step of the shipping process to identify areas that potentially lengthen the amount of time it takes to get products to customers, and make recommendations to improve that process. So what does this have to do with your personal to-do list? Well, by closely examining not only how you use your time each day, but also how you plan that time, you can better organize your activities to allow more time for priorities, and potentially take some of the less important activities off your plate. The first step in conducting a process analysis is to analyze how you spend your time each day. Keep a journal of everything that you do each day in 20- to 30-minute increments. Include both work and personal tasks, no matter how minor. Do this for a few days, and compare your daily activities to your to-do list. Chances are youâll find areas where you âwasteâ time or where activities take longer than you expected or planned. Once you have an idea of how youâre currently spending your time, think about how you want to spend your time. What are your primary goals? What do you want to accomplish this week, month, or year? Compare your progress toward those goals against your actual activities. While there may be some overlap, chances are that you will find that many of your daily tasks arenât moving you toward your goals. The next step is to brainstorm improvements and ways that can better maximize your time. For example, identify tasks that you can delegate, or better yet, forgo altogether. Which tasks perpetually take longer than you expect them to take? How can you better plan for them? When you compare what you are actually able to accomplish against what you want to accomplish, or have accomplished so far, youâll undoubtedly see areas where you can easily make improvements. Finally, the last step is to take action. Take the plunge and ask for help with certain tasks. Commit to only checking your email twice each day so you can stop spending hours online when you could be tackling your tasks. Identify your top priorities, and make your to-do list in line with them. The Benefits of a Process-Based Approach The primary benefit to using this approach to making better to-do lists is that you donât waste time on unnecessary activities. By methodically looking at how you actually spend your time compared to how you want to spend your time, youâll notice the patterns that are holding you back. This approach works for both professional and personal to-do lists, and will help you feel more in control of both your time and your career and personal goals.

According to career management coach and author of Navigating Career Crossroads Jane Jackson, each of these reasons are inextricably linked to personal and career values.âValues guide us â" when we donât acknowledge them and follow them, we veer away from the path to happiness and fulfillment,â Jane explains. âIn the workplace, this is particularly important as research h as found the average person spends over 90,000 hours at work in their lifetime. If your values are not in alignment with your organisation, boss or team members, you will experience chronic stress which will affect your mental and physical health over time.âTake the anti-boss reason, suggests Jane. Not fitting in with your superior is generally down to a lack of respect or lack of open communication, which would only occur if you value those sorts of things and your boss doesnât. If you canât see a path for growth in a company, itâs clear that opportunity is of value to you, adds Jane. And finally, if youâre up for better gig (with better pay), youâre likely to be interested in career advancement and financial gain, which your current employer obviously isnât.While itâs all very well to seek out a companyâs values and pick and choose future jobs accordingly, as Jane points out, many people have difficulty even identifying their personal and career values upfront â " which makes value misalignment all that more difficult to judge. So how do you know when your values donât align with your employer?âYouâll know if your boss or organisationâs values donât align with yours if you feel uncomfortable with what you are expected to do or you feel that the way you or others are treated at work is not acceptable,â Jane offers. âOften it starts with a feeling that something doesnât âfeel rightâ or it goes against the grain. You may feel that what is expected of you is wrong. The problem in this case is that you may have to behave in a certain way in order to keep your job, or keep the peace, or avoid conflict or confrontation.âJane uses the example of a fast-paced sales environment where a company may place emphasis on longer hours, with employees under the pump: âthis will suit professionals who place a high value on competition [and] challenge. These professionals will enjoy the thrill of the chase and will be energised in this environment,â Jane points out. âHowever, if there are colleagues in the same role who value security, work-life balance and family happiness above all else, then this high-pressure sales environment will go against their core values: they will feel stressed, unhappy and eventually burn out.âValue misalignment doesnât just happen at the beginning either: ever worked for a company that has great values stuck on office walls but does an entirely different thing in practice?âOrganisations often state their values and their leaders strive to ensure their employees embrace those values,â Jane says. âHowever, if there are employees or leaders who donât subscribe to those values and donât display this in the way they work or lead there will be discord and a feeling of mistrust will develop.ââAn open, honest discussion about your core values and what the different drivers are for both of you will highlight where your differences are so that you can work around [those] d ifferences,â Jane suggests. âWith most people, respectfully acknowledging differences and agreeing to disagree on the way things are done and accepting those differences will help towards a more harmonious work environment.âIf that comes to no avail, Jane suggests turning the questions onto yourself as to whether working in an environment thatâs a mismatch is right for you.âWhat will the toll be on you? Imagine yourself in ten yearsâ time in the same situation: what would you tell your younger self? Would you hang in there and compromise your values? Or would you make a move and find an environment where you will be working with people who live and breathe the same values as you and are working towards a common goal? Dont Be A Negative Nellie - It Doesnt Help Weve all been through tough times; whether theyre related to our careers or even our personal lives. We commonly hear people giving advice with things like, You just have to stay positive.â or âKeep a positive attitude. When all you really hear is âBlah blah blahâ. Sometimes when we hear this advice, all we want to do is tell them to go pound sand. I understand these feelings because Ive been there too. There are days when I just dont want to be positive, or I dont feel like I even can. I had a group client, Rachel, say this to me recently: âI know Im supposed to be positive but some days I just cant. I feel like Im failing because Im not able to be positive all the time.â Here is the deal, its not realistic to be positive all the time. You donât have to be positive all the time, nor should you expect it. Give yourself a break! I listened to a Law of Attraction CD recently, where they said to think of your attitude as a spectrum. On one end of the spectrum is negativity and the other is extreme positivity. Just try to keep moving towards positivity, and dont beat yourself up if you cant get there every day. Its not about perfection, its about self-management and doing the best you can.
